Accel came together when family and friends saw an opportunity for success in the gaming industry and formed a business focused on building successful and mutually beneficial relationships.
It all started in March 2012 when Accel Entertainment received its Terminal Operator’s License from the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB). Accel was one of the first Terminal Operators to be licensed by the IGB. When Video Gaming in licensed establishments across the State -- provided by Accel and other licensed Terminal Operators – went live in October 2012, Accel began a history of quality and consistent service to its partner establishments.
In the beginning, Accel spent time growing, learning, and traveling the path to success that every budding company dreams of. For the next seven years, Accel continued to outgrow and outperform all other Terminal Operators, before embarking on an amazing new path.
On November 20, 2019, Accel Entertainment became a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange (ticker symbol ACEL). This incredible achievement only bolstered Accel’s ability to provide the best video gaming experience (with the same game titles as casinos) and top-of-the-line services in America. As of today, Accel Entertainment still holds the title of the Largest Terminal Operator in the Nation!
Today, Accel owns and operates over 13,650 video gaming terminals across nearly 2,700 third-party licensed establishments in Illinois and Georgia. With eight offices and over a thousand employees within delegated departments, Accel is just a little bit bigger than where we started!
